Yvonne Cavanagh
Yvonne is a multidisciplinary artist currently working on abstract, ethereal drawings and strong, functional ceramic pieces with vibrant patterns and colors. A native of Kern County, Yvonne earned a BA in art with an emphasis in ceramics from San Francisco State University in 2003 and an MA in education from the University of La Verne in 2010. She completed her MFA in 2018 from Azusa Pacific University. Cavanagh co-owned Surface Gallery from 2008-2010 where she represented nationally-emerging artists. In 2011, she was awarded a Beautiful Bakersfield Award by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce in the Arts Individual category for her outstanding contributions to the Kern County art community. Yvonne’s solo museum exhibition “Liminal Space” was on display at the Bakersfield Museum of Art September, 2018 through January, 2019. She currently teaches ceramics at Bakersfield High School and adjunct ceramics at Bakersfield College as well as working on her studio practice.
