Mary Gerlick

Artist, Mary Gerlick, had the pleasure of mastering the heirloom techniques after 5 years of understudy from a local family in a small village in Cefalu’, Sicily.  Glass fusing is defined as using raw sheet glass to cut the design, and then fired multiple times in a kiln that reaches temperatures in excess of 1500 degrees Fahrenheit.  Ceramic bisque molds are used to shape the flat glass to create desired shapes.  Fused glass is functional art that is food safe. Each piece is an original one-of-a-kind work of art. Please enjoy a little piece of European culture made by a local artist.
