Josh ‘Bicaso’ Whitaker
Josh Whitaker is a Black-American artist residing in Freedom, CA. His visual work incorporates portrait photo-transfers on found wood surfaces. His love affair with wood has led him to explore new possibilities of form, cutout assemblage, as well as an incorporation of the natural patina that time, weather, and age have on organic materials such as wood, metal and paint. He shares the idea that, the arts, as a medium for social conversation and understanding, allows for a re-defining of what we consider the norm, and has the power to shift perspectives and promote a healthy interaction between people of all backgrounds.
