Iva Fendrick
Over the years, Iva has worked in a variety of mediums. These include portraits in pencil, nude figure studies, sculptured figures, and abstracts in mixed mediums, oils, acrylic, and watercolor. She most enjoys drawing in her sketchbook while people-watching, while waiting for appointments, or standing in a long line. Out comes her sketchbook. Even while in the emergency room, she ask for paper and pen to spend the long hours sketching the doctors and others in the area.
She taught in the Kern High School District for 25 years. She was a Resource Teacher for 12 years and switched to teaching ceramics for the remainder of her career. After retiring, she taught watercolor classes, gave workshops, and participated in painting the celebrated “trucks” and electrical boxes on Panorama. Iva is an active member of the Bakersfield Art Association as one of its managers and past President. She has also been on the Arts Council Board for several years.
