Monica Rickler Marks
Monica Rickler Marks is a mixed media and assemblage artist living in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. She received her BA in Art from California State University, Northridge, and her MA in Clinical Art Therapy at Loyola Marymount University.
Monica’s training and experience in the mental health field influences her work and she believes strongly in the power of expressive arts to promote emotional growth and healing.
In Monica’s solo show last year, “What We Hide: An Exploration of Hidden Disabilities and Identities,” the exhibition helped others to feel seen, heard, and understood in a society which isn’t often accepting of differences. She uses collage, drawing, painting, clay, photography, and found objects in her work, often incorporating words and phrases into a piece. Monica is thrilled to have her work included at Bird Dog Arts and feels that others will relate to the meaning and to the aesthetics in her art.
